Ict in learning

SIGNIFICANCE OF ICT IN LEARNING

  INTRODUCTION:

Teaching is becoming one of the most challenging professions in our society. ew concepts of learning have evolves teachers are expected to facilitate learning and make it meaningful to individual learners rather than just to provide  knowledge and skills. These challenges ask teachers to continuously retrain themselves abds acquire new knowledge and skills while maintaining their jobs.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

Today's technologies are essential tools for teaching and learning. Only then can teachers be informed and confident in their use of new technologies. ICT can promote international collaboration and networking in education and professional development There is a range of ict options from video conferencing through multimedia delivery to websites which can be used to meet the challenges teachers face today.ICT may be able to provide more flexible and effective ways for lifelong professional development for today's teachers .Because of rapid development in ict especially the internet, traditional initial teacher training as well as in service continued training institutions worldwide are undergoing a rapid change in the structure and content of their training and delivery methods of their courses.
ICT TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES:

Most of the early ict teacher training programmes in the 1990s focused on ict use as the main training content. It addresses issues such as selecting appropriate ict tools and supporting students in the use of those tools, using ict to promote training activities developing new methods of facilitating learning and evaluating students performance and so on. As singapore's only pre-service teacher training institute, the national  institute of education(NIE) was entrusted with the responsibility for integrating ict into initial teacher training programmes based on the nations masterplan for ict in education
PEDAGOGICAL INTEGRATION OF ICT:

Learner motivation is not use important for learning but is actually a key factor.Motivation forms a central construct of theories of learning. It is a hypothetical concept representing physiological and physiological process behaviourally. This is a process that ultimately acts the triggering direction intensity, persistence and frequency of behaviour or attitudes.
ICT AND DISTANCE LEARNING:

The regional institutes of education have recently replaced their one year programme by a more purposefully designed two years programme. The ict components of the D.ED and B.ED courses vary widely from state to state and system to system,. some have only a national representing in the overall curriculum while others have a strong and well designed components.
CONCLUSION:

Teacher training using the tools of ict in a comprehensive and novel manner is an innovation worthy of mention. ict in pre-service teachers education is a relatively new phenomenon in the country and plenty of scope and opportunities exist for its further growth
